or: you scream, I scream, we all scream, for Walking Dead spinoffs
The Review:
Plot 4/5
As my roommate eloquently said, “it took one hour for something to actually happen!” The plot of the premier, which granted, is a pilot, and therefore the treatment could be vastly different from the rest of the show. We shall see
Character 5/5
The cast is definitely diverse, and the leads are well chosen and I know they are capable of great gravitas. Like mentioned earlier, if only the script was better, we could see the high caliber acting of Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis shine, because they do much with the limited script to endear us to them. One worthy of note is the off kilter, “Johnny Depp-ness” acting of Frank Dilane, which might be a little over the top, but definitely stands out.
Setting 5/5
It’s set in LA. Anyone who knows me knows I am enamored by the city ofLA, the roads, the skylines, the aesthetics. The only thing I love more than the city of LA is a post apocalyptic city of LA. So far we’ve seen a lot of beautiful locales in LA. I am excited to see the crew destroy LA.
Conclusion
I’m keeping “Fear the Walking Dead” on my TiVO schedule, but I was hoping for more meat from the pilot. But, no one wants a bad TV show, so let’s hope this one get’s it’s act together
